I graduated from Academy of American Studies in 2016 and am currently attending Columbia University planning on studying international relations and human rights with a minor in Entrepreneurship. During my time at the Science Matters Research Internship, I studied the role of lysosomal acid lipase in regulating brown adipose tissue. I researched thermogenesis, the production of heat (shivering vs. non-shivering) and its role in obesity, a prevalent condition in the United States. Science Matters Research Internship exposed me to fields of science and research I never learned about in high school.
